We are looking for a Veterinary Technician or Assistant to care for our patients and support our Veterinarians in day to day tasks. You'll play an important role in bringing comfort to our furry patients and ensuring the smooth running of our facility. We'll rely on you to assist the Veterinarian with patient examination and treatments. You must have the ability and compassion to care for our patients properly. This includes but is not limited to, learning daily routine tasks such as restraining and monitoring patients during examinations, caring for injured or scared patients (that can be fractious), administering medications, and communicating with clients. Our technicians are a vital component of our overall team. If you are organized, quick on your feet, and can also handle assisting in potential emergencies or euthanasia, we'd like to meet you!

Responsibilities

• Sterilize equipment and clean examination tables and rooms
• Restrain animals during examinations or vaccinations
• Soothe upset or frightened animals
• Administer and explain medications prescribed by our Veterinarians
• Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the Vet
• Help in cases of emergencies
• Running exam rooms
• Keep accurate records and logs on Avimark Veterinary Software
• Client communication and education - reassurance and explanations when issues/concerns arise regarding their pets
• Advise pet owners on proper nutrition and healthcare

Skills

• Proven experience as a Veterinary Assistant/Technician
• Excellent communication skills
• Patient and caring personality
• Ability to follow instructions properly
• Comfortable being around animals
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs)
• Availability to occasionally assist in emergencies
• High school diploma; a Veterinary assistant/technician certification or licensing is preferred
• Fluent in English (required)
• Fluent in Spanish (not required)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 – 40 per week
